Twenty people, including eight children, were killed today when a speeding train rammed into a packed autorickshaw at a railway crossing between Semra and Sugauli stations in Bihar's East Champaran district, the police said.
The accident occurred when the van came in the way of the Alipurduar-Siliguri up passenger train at an unmanned level crossing in between Banarhat and Keran stations of the North Frontier Railways.
It is thought the crash was due to either a signalling error or a mistake by one of the drivers.
